Antimatter Festival of Underground Short Film & VideoAntimatter Festival of Underground Short Film & Video - Victoria, BC, Canada
Held in September - Annual festival, produced by Rogue Art, seeks imaginative, volatile, entertaining and critical works which exist outside the mainstream, regardless of subversive or dangerous nature of their content, stylistic concerns or commercial viability. Antimatter is anti-Hollwood and anti-censorship -- dedicated to film and video as art.

Artsfest Film Festival - Harrisburg, PA
We are looking for independent, avant-garde, personal, experimental, or any other form of creative filmmaking that challenges the masses and the "Hollywood" aesthetics.

Black Harvest International Film and Video Festival - Chicago, IL
The Black Harvest International Festival of Film and Video is Chicago's annual showcase for films of the African diaspora. The Film Center is looking for new short films by American or international directors of African heritage.

The Blinding Light - Vancouver, BC, Canada
Microcinema presenting ongoing screenings, specializing in alternative, underground and obscure film and video screenings. Operates 6 nights a week.

Carolina Film and Video Festival - UNCG, Greensboro, NC
The Carolina Film and Video Festival is open to any length film or genre. Entries from high school, college, and independent ranks are all invited. Cash prizes.

Cinematexas International Film Festival - Austin, Texas
Acknowledged as one of the world's foremost short film festivals, Cinematexas includes a juried international competition (awarding over $10,000 in cash and services annually), and a separate juried competition of work by University of Texas film, as well as curated programs dedicated to exhibiting new work by infectious artists and retrospectives of seldom-seen work by masters of the short film format. We also offer four major sidebars, each a mini-festival in its own right: Parallax View, our explosive media activism laboratory; Terra Cognita, a series of moving image installations by established and emerging artists from around the world; Cinemakids, screenings of youth-made films complemented by free filmmaking workshops; and Austin Eye+Ear, a concert series featuring some of the most vital artists working in the field of contemporary music and performance from around the world.

Held in - November - Media art works including video and film (experimental, narrative, documentary, art, animation, etc.), CD-ROMs, DVDs, audio art, web sites, online, multimedia performances and installations, public art media projects (especially electronic billboards), youth media, proposals for video bus tours, community media activities and others.

MadCat International Women's Film FestivalMadCat Women's International Film Festival - San Francisco and Berkeley, CA
Held in September - MadCat was founded to give a voice to the vast range of experimental and independent films directed by women.

Ms. FilmsMs. Films - A Festival of Movies by Independent Women - Durham, N.C.
Held in February, the festival includes two days of screenings of woman-made movies from all over the world, as well as workshops and panel discussions all about filmmaking presented by women filmmakers.

Nomad Videofilm Festival - Berkeley, CA
Traveling Screenings - The NOMAD non-mainstream bias favors work of audacity and poetic immediacy. Winning entries receive written audience response from each show. Docs, narratives & animations also encouraged.

SILVERDOCS seeks to expand the audience for, and broaden the impact of, documentary film. The International Documentary Conference runs concurrently, June 15-17, allowing Filmmakers the opportunity to attend all Conference panels and workshops. The Conference also includes Silver Sessions - small group meetings with industry pros that connect filmmakers with decision-makers: program executives from Discovery, IFC, ITVS, HBO, PBS, and more. Networking opportunities abound at the Cinema Lounge, the hub of the Festival social life. Awarding over $40,000 in combined cash and prizes to filmmakers in 2006 & showing in a state of the art digital projection at the technologically advanced, beautifully renovated art deco AFI Silver Theatre,

The United States Super 8mm Film + Digital Video Festival - Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ
Held in February - The Festival encourages any genre (animation, documentary, experimental, fiction, personal, etc.). All works will be screened by a panel of judges who will award $ prizes.
