JAMES RIVER FILM FESTIVAL
Virginia’s Festival for the Independent-Minded

The annual James River Film Festival is a celebration of independent film and video. Held annually since 1994, it has staged more than 270 workshops, screenings and seminars. In addition, the program includes retrospectives, film performances with live, original music and the juried competition of short films.

The James River Film Festival is presented by the Richmond Moving Image Co-op (RMIC). RMIC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local media artists and enthusiasts by providing public screenings, classes, workshops and access to equipment, information and resources. RMIC also sponsors the bi-monthly Flicker exhibitions, screening Super-8 and 16mm short films by central Virginia artists. For more information visit www.rmicweb.org or phone (804) 232-RMIC (7642).

The James River Film Festival is funded by the Richmond Moving Image Co-op and Friends of the Festival.

The James River Film Festival was established by Michael Jones, along with other Richmond, Virginia area university faculty members, media professionals and volunteers.

In 1999, the James River Film Festival joined forces with the Richmond Flicker to form the Richmond Moving Image Co-op, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports independent media artists.
