The
Art of Motion with
Ray Harryhausen
2 pm, The Byrd Theatre
Admission $7
Animator/producer Ray Harryhausen will conduct a Q& A session
while screening a retrospective of highlights from his long and esteemed
career. A privileged look from inside the industry by one of the standard
bearers of his craft. His stop-motion effects and movable models were
a big influence on a number of top directors currently working in
Hollywood, including George Lucas, James Cameron and Steven Spielberg.
Director Joe Dante perhaps best sums it up: Ray and Willis OBrien
did so much to transform stop-motion, and paved the way for so many
amazing things that are being done now. The new ones are all very
technically smooth but they seem to lack the heart Ray put into his
stuff.
Note: Book and DVD signing to followsee above. |
