FLICKER presents:
Ms. Films from North Carolina

Why Ms. Films? The number of woman-made films shown in movie theaters, film festivals and on TV is significantly less than that of men. Ms. Films is a non-profit, all volunteer-run organization that attempts to address this gap with a multi-faceted approach. With so few avenues of distribution for women filmmakers and artists who choose to work in the short format, the organization provides a showcase for women filmmakers to exhibit their work. Ms. Films presents an annual festival; publishes The Down, Dirty & DIY Guide to Film and Video; and offers workshops and panels to help get women of all ages started – to give them the tools and resources to make their own movies. For more information visit www.msfilms.org. Here Ms. Films presents a selection of some of their favorite films and videos, including three from Virginia filmmakers Pat Doyen, Alexandria Searls and Joice Ozaki – all of whom were featured in Ms. Films’ 2004 festival. Ms. Films organizer Niku Arbabi will moderate a post-screening panel discussion with Pat, Alex and Joice.  Firehouse Theatre, 7:30 p.m. Admission $3.
