Lucas is perhaps best known for his guitar work with Captain Beefheart
and the Magic Band, but the versatile singer-songwriter has garnered
international kudos with his latest CD, The Edge of Heaven.
Join us for
a very special evening of film and live music as Lucas accompanies
the 1920 German silent classic, Der Golem. Beautifully
restored, The Golem was one of the greatest achievements
of the UFA Studios and a key link in the evolution of the horror
film. Widely recognized as the source of Shelleys Frankenstein
story, the ancient Hebrew myth of the creation of the Golem as a
protector of the Jews in 16th century Prague translates wonderfully
on screen the creation sequence and scenes of destruction
wrought by the Golems fury are as remarkable today as then.
Directed by and starring Paul Wegener.
Gary Lucas will make an in-store appearance at Plan 9 Music
on Sunday, March 30 at 5pm.
