Italian Film
and Food Festival

Italian Film and Food Fest.

Combine classic and groundbreaking Italian films with classic and mouthwatering Italian food and you're sure to experience a feast for the all the senses.

The second annual Italian Food and Film Festival is sponsored by Mamma 'Zu and the Richmond Moving Image Co-op.

This all-day event takes place at Plant Zero, 0 East 4th Street, off Hull St. just south of the Mayo/14th Street Bridge. Show times at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Admission is $10 per ticket (available only at the door 30 minutes before each show) or $25 for an all-day pass. A limited number of all-day passes are available in advance at Chop Suey Books and Video Fan. Seating is limited to 150 people per show.

Italian fare from Mamma 'Zu is included with admission price (beverages extra).

Open City. 10 am
"Open City"

Director: Roberto Rossellini. Co-writers: Sergio Amidei and Federico Fellini,
"Open City" became the prototype for a style that came to be known as Italian "neorealism", and was remarkable for its documentary-like texture. Sub-titled.

The Gospel According to St.Matthew. 1 pm

Director: Pier Paolo Pasolini.
Pasolini crafted this work to invite the audience into the mystery and beauty of both storytelling at its most imaginative and filmmaking at its most immediate. Sub-titled.

An allegorical love story set on a deserted Mediterranean island -- a tongue-in-cheek reworking of the war between the sexes. Sub-titled.

Director: Federico Fellini.
Fellini takes the natural dream logic of cinema and the chaotic flow of his own memories and reveries, joining art and life and culminating in the most honest, joyful processional ever designed for the lens. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1964; Sub-titled.

Kodak has announced plans to discontinue production of the venerable Kodachrome 40 Super 8 movie film. We're expressing our sentiments to the public and Kodak by dedicating this FLICKER program to short films shot on Kodachrome.
